Search Listings
Search all available listings through the Wasatch Front Multiple Listing Service (WFRMLS), the most comprehensive MLS in the state of Utah. If you’re not sure what you’re looking for, contact a RE/MAX Overland Sales Associate to help you find your home.

Get Preapproved for a Loan
Contact lenders to determine which one will provide you with the best terms. By obtaining a copy of your credit report, you can determine if there are actions you need to take to improve your score. The higher your credit score, the better chances you have of obtaining a low interest rate. Once you obtain preapproval, you’ll be able to determine a price range and know about how much home you can afford to purchase.

Make a Wish List
How many bedrooms and bathrooms do you want? How large do you want your house to be? Do you want a newer or older home? Is an updated kitchen important to you? What features would you be willing to give up if you find the otherwise perfect home?

Explore the Market
Right here on overlandrealtyutah.com you can find listings that meet your criteria, as well as neighborhood information. Look for properties that best fit for you and review them with your RE/MAX Realtor. Your Realtor will be able to provide you with a more comprehensive summary of the property and arrange for you to see the home(s). Your Realtor will also be able to provide you with more homes that meet your wish list. Take notes at each home you visit. Narrow down your choices and re-visit the homes that interest you.

Buying Your Home

Once you’ve found the home you want to buy, your Realtor will walk you through the process of purchasing your home. Be prepared to help your Realtor write an offer quickly. Your Realtor will be familiar with comparable listings and market values to help you come to a price that stands the best chance of being accepted.

It’s easy at this point to become emotionally attached to your home. Your offer may not be accepted for a list of reasons, so make sure you have backup homes in mind. You may need to negotiate with the seller through your Realtor if your offer is not accepted.

Once your offer is accepted:

  • You’ll be asked to submit an earnest money deposit that usually isn’t refundable
  • Begin making moving arrangements: obtain change of address forms, pack your belongings, inform family and friends
  • Have the property professional inspected
  • If necessary, request repairs
  • Obtain homeowner’s insurance
  • Contact utilities: water, electricity, gas, etc.
  • A few days before closing, schedule a walk-through
  • Obtain a cashier’s check for the down payment and closing costs

At Closing:

  • Make sure the terms and conditions of the loan statement are correct
  • Carefully read everything before you sign

Enjoy your new home!
